In a consignment sale the distributor sells product on behalf of the owner, often a grower, and pays them from the proceeds after a commission and agreed charges. The distributor does not own the goods while they sit in the warehouse.
Consignment shifts market risk to the grower but adds accounting work: the distributor must track which lots are consigned, what each sold for, and settle with each grower with a statement they can check.
APFoodz supports consignment, with grower settlements and statements.
