What is Price after sale?

A produce purchase where the price is set after the distributor sells the goods, based on what they sold for.

Price after sale, sometimes called open-price or PAS, is a produce trading arrangement where the distributor takes ownership but the price paid to the grower is set after the goods are sold, based on market results. Agreements should be in writing before the shipment.

Like consignment, it needs lot-level tracking from receipt to sale so the final price can be justified to the grower.

The risk on both sides is a dispute about the final number. Growers want to see what their produce actually sold for; distributors need their selling costs and commission recognised. A written agreement that says how the price will be set, and a statement that shows each sale against the lot, keeps the conversation short.

APFoodz supports price-after-sale purchases and grower statements.
