What is Bank reconciliation?

Matching the transactions on a bank statement to the ones in your books, and explaining any differences.

A bank reconciliation compares the bank's record of your account with your own ledger. Every deposit, payment, fee and transfer on the statement should match something in the books; anything that does not is either missing from the books or an error.

For distributors with many customer payments, card batches and supplier payments, reconciliation is high-volume matching work. Importing statements and remembering how recurring lines are coded turns most of it into review.

In APFoodz bank statements are imported and matched for you, with a review step for your CPA.
