What the questions are about.
The FDA's Food Traceability Rule, from section 204 of the Food Safety Modernization Act, asks businesses that hold foods on the Food Traceability List to keep key data elements for critical tracking events such as receiving, shipping and transformation, linked by a traceability lot code, and to produce them within 24 hours when the FDA asks.
For most distributors that means three things: knowing which of your foods are covered, recording what came in and what went out by lot, and getting the right lot data from your suppliers.
